Behavioral Health

Mental health is just as important as the rest of your health. Our newly renovated Behavioral Health Unit provides an exceptional environment for our patients.
If you feel that you or someone you love is in danger:
Call 911 or the HOPE 4 Iowa Hotline at (844) 673-4469 or the Suicide Prevention Lifeline at (800) 273-8255

Mental Health is a growing challenge in our community. Every 20 hours, someone takes their own life in our state, causing suicide to rank as the 9th leading cause of death in Iowa. Over 600,000 Iowans live with some form of mental illness, and about 37,000 Iowans are dealing with serious mental illness every day.

The impact of mental illness in our families and community is profound. To help change this, we must provide the same quality of care for those with mental illness as we do any other healthcare crisis.

Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital offers inpatient behavioral health services and specializes in treating psychiatric illness in patients with chemical dependency.

Our newly updated space includes patient, group, and family rooms and areas for extra-conventional therapies such as mediation, yoga, exercise, photography, and music. Designed through the lens of our patients and families, the team focused on the updates also involves experts who specialize in improving health care spaces to ensure the best possible care environment exists.
